It's no secret that fall is one of the most popular seasons for couples and engagement sessions. The vibrant hues of freshly fallen leaves make the perfect backdrop for a romantic photoshoot. Whether you're announcing your engagement or updating the gallery wall in your home, Michigan's picturesque fall landscapes are truly unmatched.
Get inspired by these 5 fall-inspired location ideas in Michigan.
Location 1: Wooded Trails
For a classic fall vibe, opt for wooded trails. During peak season the reds, oranges, and yellows will POP. For this particular session, we headed to Aquinas College in Grand Rapids where there are lots of easy-access trails weaving all throughout campus.
Keep in mind that peak fall foliage typically begins late September and lasts until mid October depending on the area. Make sure to plan accordingly!
Location 2: A Historical Building/Local Landmark
For something a bit fancier, a historic building like the Felt Estate Mansion in Holland, Michigan is gorgeous all year round. Between the captivating architecture, well-kept gardens, and acres of land, we're able to capture a lot of variety in a short amount of time.
Location 3: Tall Grassy Fields
For neutral lovers, tall grassy fields radiate fall energy without being too over the top. Woldumar Nature Center in Lansing, Michigan is my favorite spot for those dreamy, "frolicking through a field" photos with your lover. Dress it up or keep it casual, you can't go wrong with this location!
Location 4: An Apple Orchard/Pumpkin Patch
Nothing says fall romance quite like apple picking or roaming through a pumpkin patch. Make a date out of your session and check an item off of your autumn bucket list with this seasonal favorite!
Location 5: A Vineyard/Winery
A winery is another great date night option in the fall. With fewer crowds and gorgeous vineyard views, it's the perfect setting for a romantic couples or engagement session. Northern Michigan is known for its local vineyards some of which even include on-site accommodations to make a weekend out of the experience.
Pro Tip: Bring a fun prop like a cozy blanket, your favorite drinks, or layers you can easily throw on and off to add a bit more variety and personality to your session.
