Josh and Lisa’s story began in high school where they met and fell in love. Not many are so lucky as to find their forever person at such a young age, but these two were meant to be. They followed each other through college and then to chiropractic school where their love continued to grow and flourish. Marriage was always the plan, but they had big goals and aspirations they wanted to accomplish first. After years of hard work and commitment to their goals, they now have over 4 offices throughout west Michigan with plans for more. Watching these two finally be pronounced husband and wife was such a bittersweet moment!
Getting ready
Josh and Lisa’s big day took place at The Felt Estate in Holland, MI. An award-winning venue that has been named the “hidden gem” of west Michigan for its historical roots and rustic charm. The grounds of the estate exude a feeling of romance and luxury. Everything you need for a beautiful wedding is provided.
Lisa and her team of bridesmaids wore matching floral robes as they got their hair and makeup done in the bridal suite of the estate. They opened a bottle of champagne in celebration of the events to come and shared a toast for the new Mr. and Mrs.
First Look
Her bridesmaids waited patiently for the reveal of Lisa in her wedding dress and cheered as they saw her for the first time. The excitement and anticipation in the room was growing rapidly. We could not wait for Josh to see her walking down the aisle, but first we had one more stop to make.
The first look between father and daughter on her wedding day is always precious. So many emotions come to light as a father sees his little girl all dressed in white. Lisa’s dad was no exception. His ear-to-ear grin displayed incredible amounts of pride and happiness which made it all the more tender.
Josh and Lisa wanted to keep it traditional and wait until the ceremony to see each other. Instead of a first-look, they exchanged letters behind a doorway and read them silently together. Tears filled both of their eyes as they read each other’s words and touched hands, knowing that just moments from now they would be married.
Ceremony
It was a gorgeous summer day in August. The emptiness of the estate and the coolness of the breeze made the setting feel so peaceful. The ceremony was short but filled with beautiful words and tear filled eyes.
To symbolize their marriage, Josh and Lisa participated in a tree-planting ceremony. This tradition beautifully represents planting roots and growing together in marriage and family. They each added soil to the pot and watered the tree in tandem. It was a perfect representation of their commitment to each other and added an extra special meaning to the day.
Portraits
After the ceremony, we snuck away for some bridal portraits of the couple. We headed to the nearby woods for a natural backdrop. Josh and Lisa looked absolutely stunning and it was such a pleasure hanging out with just the two of them.
Cocktail Hour/ Reception
We made our way back to the venue for dinner and everyone celebrated as they walked through the door. Each of their siblings gave a speech and recounted memorable moments in their 13+ year history together. The tables were beautifully decorated with ensembles of greenery and the whole space looked like something out of a fairytale.
After dinner, the two of them mingled with their guests, played around in the photo booth, and enjoyed a private dress change before sunset photos.
Josh and Lisa are big fans of electronic music and the 808 beat (hence their wedding day 08/08/20!) Their first dance was to the song, “Superhuman” by Slander, which starts out slow and gradually leads into an upbeat EDM song. After that, it was ALL party for the rest of the night.
Josh and Lisa’s summer wedding was an unforgettable, fairytale experience.
It was so special to watch their love story unfold from young teenagers with big dreams to now business owners building a life together. Their story makes you believe in true love and is exactly why I do what I do!
